Master Class in Finding and Retaining Veterinary Technicians

Join us for an afternoon talking tech! Veterinary technicians, that is. Are you trying to hire one or two? Keep the ones you already have? It helps to understand that half of technicians leave within the first five years of practice. Attend this program and not only will you learn what you can do to effectively recruit technicians but how to compensate them fairly so they won’t leave. Did you know that VTs bring incredible value to your practice? Learn all the tasks LVTs can legally perform and how that translates into revenue to your practice. A healthy clinic culture is another important aspect to keeping technicians in your practice. You’ll learn how all members of the team can thrive. In addition, learn how unregistered assistants can work in your practice and successfully attend an online accredited technician education program. This is a high-value program you won’t want to miss!

(25-minute Sessions)

What responsibilities can be delegated to a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and which task can be delegated to an unregistered assistant. What level of supervision by a licensed veterinarian is required? Let’s review the Washington State regulations and allow LVT’s to practice at the top of their license!

Compensation and Retention
Follow the numbers. Compensation has always been a huge factor for the retention of veterinary technicians. Are you paying ALL of your employees accordingly? How to calculate and convey your value to your employer? How to have the tough conversations regarding compensation.

Why is Membership in Your State Association and NAVTA Important?
We often hear that being a member of your state veterinary technician association and NAVTA is important. But why is it important? What’s in it for you? What’s in it for the profession? Why employers should pay for VT dues as part of compensation package.

Creating a Culture of Learning
Developing all members on the veterinary health care team is important to patient and client care and hospital profitability. In the busy veterinary hospital today, it may seem impossible to find the time to train or create learning plans. In this session we’ll discuss simple strategies to create a culture of learning and support team development to engage and retain team members.

Accredited Veterinary Technology Programs

Options to encourage and support team members to enroll in an accredited program and while enrolled will also be discussed.

Toxic Work Environments
